Station Rd Brewery, Margaret River

Crafting a shed for craft beer.

How could I say no? A close friend, who happened to be a director of the Margaret River Brewhouse asked me to design a brewing production shed for their expanding operation. As with most commercial projects it had a tight budget & needed a fast build time.

Being a ‘shed’ located on a street with a random collection of buildings & uses; houses, factories, shops, carparks, it was still important to integrate the practical requirements of brewing into a shed that had a degree of considered aesthetic. Basically, make it look a bit more interesting than usual.

Using small elements of recycled timber & a decent colorbond palette helped soften the look & the large southern windows provided both ample ambient internal light as well as reducing the mass.

A 35kw PV solar array covers the roof which will be doubled when Stage 2 of the project is completed. A small native garden is beginning to grow along the front.
